Verghese Kurien, also known as the architect of Operation Flood or 'White Revolution' - the largest dairy development program in the world, died at Nadiad in Gujarat on September 9, 2012. He's the man who helped modernise the Anand model of cooperative dairy development and engineered the White Revolution in India, and made India the largest milk producer in the world. Today over 10 million farmers across the country at 200 dairies produce over 20 million litres of milk a day. He was also the founder of the popular dairy milk brand in India- Amul.

After a wait of almost 4 years, one of the best aircrafts available in the world- Dreamliner (Boeing 787) touched down at Delhi's Indira Gandhi Airport on September, 8, 2012. ‘Air-India’ had placed an order of 27 dreamliners in 2006 and in 2008, it was supposed to be delivered but the delivery was delayed due to design and production issues at Boeing’s (US aircraft company) end. This led to a ‘compensation dispute’ between the government and the Boeing which got resolved a few weeks ago only.
This is the first of the 27 256-seater aircraft ordered by the state-run airline.

Today when the world's entire scientist community jumped and rejoiced at the landing of a spacecraft sent to Mars, called, "Curiosity"- Indians found an additional reason to celebrate.
