Pahari Chai is not just good to taste, but also good to health also. It makes use of Mint which is usually used by people in higher altitudes for its throat-soothing properties as a mild decongestant for illnesses such as the common cold. Here's the recipe of Pahari Chai. 


  • Fresh ginger----1/4 inch
  • Green cardamom--- 1, crushed
  • Cinnamon--------------1/4 inch
  • Black pepper --------- 2-3
  • Fennel seeds--------1/2 a tea spoon (or a pinch or two of fennel powder)
  • Saffron strands------1-2
  • Clove ---------------------1
  • Ginger powder---------- 1-2 pinch
  • Dried mint-------------------1-2 pinch
  • Tea leaves------------------2- 3 tea spoons
  • Some Water


  • Boil the water in a saucepan. 
  • Add the tea spices by a pinch per person or as whole spices. It is better still if we grind all the spices & then use.
  • Next add the tea leaves.
  • 4. Add milk when the concoction starts boiling.
  • 5. Boil for about a minute.
  • 6. Strain the tea into the cups.
  • 7. Add sugar, stir & enjoy!!
